Ms. Duong Thi Loan is the Head Nurse of the Pediatric Hospital in Hue, Vietnam where she has been working for 23 years.  As Head Nurse, Ms. Loan is responsible for managing all the nurses in the 250-bed Pediatric Hospital. Families and parents travel from all over Central Vietnam to bring their children to this hospital to receive the care they so desperately need. Ms Loan has a very important job and is always looking for opportunities to receive additional education and training to improve nursing and patient care.

Ms. Le Thi Hang is the Head Nurse of the Nursing Department at Hue Central Hospital in Central Vietnam. Head Nurse Hang is responsible for managing all the nurses in the hospital’s nursing department. This includes providing them with continued nursing education and training. She has a busy schedule both professionally and with family, however she is always looking for opportunities to receive additional education and training to improve and update her nursing skills.

With little education and training, she is limited in her knowledge and in what roles she can perform as a nurse. Everyday, she encounters children who are in great need of accurate nursing assessment to ensure they are properly diagnosed and cared for. Because Ms. Ha was not trained in the nursing process of assessment, she was not able to assess her patients accurately. Assessment is very important in nursing.
